Winter is torture on my skin. My skin type is typically combination, but once winter rolls around, it dries up like the cracks in the Sahara desert. As I’m getting close to 26, I’m also becoming more aware of what I’m putting on my face and becoming more diligent on using natural skincare products. I’ve been pretty blessed with minimal wrinkles thanks to my beautiful mom, but I’ve noticed I’ve lost some plumpness these last couple of years that comes with age. Having dryer skin definitely does not help, so it’s important for me to keep my skin hydrated as often as possible.
I’ve been loving products from Honest Beauty, especially the Magic Balm and the Dependably Clear Oil Free Moisturizer. I’ve just started getting into products from Honest Beauty, so I can’t say or compare too many of the products. So far, these are the two that I really like. The Dependably Clear Oil Free Moisturizer is great because oil based products tend to make my skin break out. I use Dependably during the day and the Magic Balm at night. The Magic Balm is made of organic fruit and botanical oils that soothes hella dryness, making it a perfect winter staple. You can use it on your face and even the ashy parts of your elbows and knees (because, hello, ashy central on those areas).
I don’t break out too often anymore, but when I’m stressed out or if I haven’t been eating very clean, I’ll see little pimples here and there. I’ve been using the Drying Lotion by Mario Badescu for over 7 years and it’s never failed me. Use a Q-tip and dip it all the way to the bottom; do not mix. Then, dap it over the pimple and wash it off when you wake up the next morning. That pimple will be gone, no joke.
I love most of Lush’s face masks and this season, I’ve been using Love Lettuce. I use it once a week to scrub away the dead skin, as opposed to 2-3 times a week during the summer because I don’t want to add more dryness to my skin. If you like the calming smell of lavender, you’ll enjoy Love Lettuce. It washes away oil and debris, leaving your face squeaky clean. I’ll put the Magic Balm after the mask treatment for intense rehydration.
