Happy International Women’s Day! Today is a day to celebrate women and all of the accomplishments we’ve achieved so far in society. I hope all women are proud to be a woman today no matter your political or personal beliefs.
The reason why I say that is because I used to be afraid of the word feminist. I tried to steer clear of being “labelled” such a term because it seemed so daunting. It took me awhile to figure out that I was indeed a feminist and proud of it.
As I got older, I realized that men were the ones labeling feminists as uptight, rigid man-haters. I also knew I cared about women’s rights and what we do and don’t have in today’s society. I accepted the fact that I can care about women’s social issues while still loving men and stay open minded. Feminists are not haters, we just care a lot about our community and our future children.
My girlfriends and I decided to film a short video on our personal experiences and opinions on being a woman. We had so much fun filming it with the help of our friend, Cameron. It was also fun to work on a short project with a group of fun and motivated people.
Before you go, I hope you take a look at the video and feel free to share with me your stories in the comments!
